Comparison of the characteristics of PVC artificial leather and PU artificial leather
The first generation of synthetic leather products is PVC (PVC), which is inexpensive and has a certain texture similar to natural leather, but it has disadvantages such as poor weather resistance, a stiff feel, and poor softness. It is mainly used in low-end bags, shoes, and sports balls. The second generation of products is PU (polyurethane), which originated after the large-scale application of polyurethane materials in the 1940s. It has advantages such as a soft luster, a soft feel, a strong leather-like sensation, and good cold resistance, and is widely used in clothing, furniture, and mid-to-high-end footwear.

The pattern of PVC leather is formed by hot pressing with a steel pattern roller; the pattern of PU leather is made by first hot pressing a patterned paper onto the surface of the semi-finished leather, waiting for it to cool down, and then separating the paper from the leather for surface treatment.
The price of PU leather is more than double that of PVC leather, and the price of PU leather with certain special requirements can be 2-3 times higher than that of PVC leather. Generally, the patterned paper required for PU leather can only be used 4-5 times before it is scrapped; the usage cycle of the pattern roller is long, so the cost of PU leather is higher than that of PVC leather.
There are also certain differences in the applicable range of these two materials. In terms of footwear, PVC leather is often used in linings or non-weight-bearing areas, or for making children's shoes; PU leather can be used for the fabric of shoes or weight-bearing areas. In terms of bags, PVC leather is more commonly used. This is because the items in bags are different from the feet in shoes, which do not emit heat; they do not have to bear personal weight.
The differences between PU and PVC are relatively easy to identify. From the edge, the base fabric of PU is much thicker than that of PVC, and there is also a difference in hand feel; PU feels softer, while PVC feels harder; it can also be burned, and the smell of PU is much lighter than that of PVC.

Advantages of artificial leather
Artificial leather, also known as synthetic leather or leatherette, is a general term for synthetic materials such as PVC and PU. It is made by processing various formulations of PVC and PU through foaming or coating on a textile or non-woven fabric base, and can be manufactured according to different requirements for strength, abrasion resistance, cold resistance, color, gloss, patterns, and designs.

Introduction to the Advantages of PU Artificial Leather
The development of synthetic leather has basically gone through three stages. In the 1930s, PVC synthetic leather made from PVC polymer materials appeared, achieving practical industrial applications as a substitute for natural leather. This is the first generation of artificial leather. In the manufacturing process of PVC leather, plastic particles are first thermally melted and mixed into a paste, then evenly coated on a T/C knitted fabric base according to the specified thickness. It then enters the foaming furnace for foaming, giving it the softness needed to adapt to the production of various products with different requirements. Surface treatment (dyeing, embossing, polishing, matting, and brushing) is carried out simultaneously as it comes out of the furnace, mainly according to the specific product requirements.

Distinguish between synthetic leather and genuine leather products
Artificial leather products have already covered all aspects of life, including seats, sofas, leather shoes, bags... Artificial leather products can be said to be everywhere. However, many people are still unclear about the characteristics of artificial leather and the differences from genuine leather. Although the current trend is for artificial leather to further develop and genuine leather products to lose market share, it doesn't hurt to understand a bit more.
